Last Monday and tuesday I attended a Educator workshop up at Niobrara Valley Preserve. It only lasted two days but we packed a punch of stuff into that small time. We did things like look at prairie management, checked out fish and macro invertebrates in a stream, swam in the river, talked Nebraska mammals (and trapped some) and had a campfire. That was all the first day! On day two we went on a bird hike, caught birds and learned about reptiles and amphibians. While doing all of this really cool nature stuff we also learned concert ways to incorporate some of it into our classes including things as simple as a bird call ice-breaker to more complicated GPS habitat lessons. Overall it was a great two days and I left with a bunch of knowledge, resources and last but not least beautify couple of days in a beautify area of the state.
