Here are the notes we took over types of arthropods.
Hexapoda – Insects +
3 body segments, 6 legs, most have wings, 1 pair of antennae, compound eyes, largest group
Chelicerate – spiders, horseshoe crabs +
2 segments, organs in abdomen, 8 legs, chelicera – extensions from moth for either graspers or fangs, liquify and drink prey
Myriapods – millipedes and centipedes
simple eyes and many segments, milli – 2 pairs of legs per segment, centi – 1 pair of legs per segment
Crustacea – crabs, lobsters barnacles +
similar larval stage, 2 segments with organs in cephalothorax, lots of legs or sessile, mostly aquatic
